Delhi AIIMS has released a report that children who watch mobile phones for hours are suffering from eye diseases.

According to Delhi AIIMS report, the complaint of Myopia (near-sightedness) i.e. poor near vision has increased three times in the last 20 years. According to the 2001 survey, the prevalence of myopia among children in Delhi was 7% in 2001, 13.5% in 2011 and has increased to 21% in 2021. Doctor says that nowadays children are spending a lot of time watching mobile phones or any other electronic gadgets due to which their eyesight is getting weaker. In that particular case, the patient was having a few other complications which led to epidemic of visual strain, far vision may be blurry, focusing for the far distance may be delayed, and object doubling may occur. Also, one may suffer from false myopia or pseudo myopia. Near-sightedness syndrome is becoming more common these days.

To treat this, the doctor says that children must limit their mobile phone use to certain times of the day. Also set aside for one day or week or indulge yourself in sports or other activities and pay attention to their diet.

The doctor also says that earlier children of 18-20 years of age used to wear glasses but now even children of 7-8 years have started wearing glasses and the reason for this is also that parents are giving mobile phones to small children which is very worrying for the future.
